hey guys needing some help with my gears also, i have a 97 TJ and i am trying to figure my rear gears out. I have jacked the rear of the jeep up and spin the tire but to get the drive shaft to move i have to spin the driver side tire is correct ? when i spin the passenger side the diver side spins backwards but the funny thing is, is that the driveshaft doesn't unless i spend it fast is this good?

easyiest way is to pull the cover and just count the teeth on the ring gear and the pinion gear...... devide the pinion gear into the ring gear and there you have it.....if it is a four cyl. it will be 4.10 to 1 if it is a 6 cyl. it will be about 3.07 to 1 jeep makes up lack of power in the 4 banger with better gears.....:D
