Flat-top knuckle high steer?  If so why is your drag link so high up?  Just how it is fabbed or is it clearance for the tie rod?

I have a similar setup on "bob"

Its fab from P.O. It is one of many bandaids on front axle to compensate for incorrect caster. I pulled the front axle early this spring and corrected the caster and I am still tying up loose ends from that. Problems Solved!

YA!

Sorry the lighting in my two car garage isn't that great. I wear a headlight 90% of the time. Po folks have Po ways!

Got this installed this weekend. Hopefully it will remedy my running slightly hot issue. Time will tell.

Sold some more parts and found this!

A 454throttle body. Another piece to my EFI puzzle . This one came with a adjustable fuel regulator. Oh an Friday I let the wife drive me around in the jeep. Seems to be staying cool with the new fan shroud. But the real test will be a much warmer day on a long trail ride.

Not much going on. I got my front steering all ironed out...i think, so I did my version of a frontend alignment. It involved fishing string, all of my jack stands, a tape measure and me closing one eye and holding up my thumb. lol

Template for frame fish plate. P.O. Didn't reinforce where they had spliced in the 2x4 square tube in to front half of frame. Splice is few inches behind motor mounts.

Cutting torch didn't do to bad on the frame reinforcement aka fish plates. It will need some massaging to fit each particular side anyway. Next I will need to get the drill press up to snuff and see about drilling the 1 1/4 holes along the length of it. Slow an steady!

Got the frame plates welded in. Called in the Calvary for the job!

Next thing on the list is to put in the poly motor mounts and tranny mount. I also found that my pitman arm is still contacting my tierod. I did some research. This is a common problem with cj's that goto full width axles. The easiest solution is to get a steering box bracket that moves the steering box forward. M.O.R.E. Makes one for a reasonable price. So I will be installing one of those shortly. Now this jeep already had the d44 in it when I bought it but I didn't have this tiered pitman arm contact problem.  But when I lowered the front ride height the problem came to bare.

I have come to the realization that my steering setup is all wrong. My setup puts my draglink behind the tierod. Which reults in the pitman arm going over the top of the tierod. So when my axle travels up during suspension compression (watch out getting technical) my tierod contacts the pitman arm.

The solution is new highsteer arms that locate the tierod BEHIND the draglink (looking from the front) and moving the steering box forward (towards the front of the jeep). Moving the steering box can be done with a M.O.R.E. HD steering box bracket. It moves it up 1" and some change. If need be i can also use some offset Tierod ends but that will add to the expense and I would like to just use the heims that i have. Although TRE's would be more road worthy...hmmmm.  Well i am off to buy  parts and throw more money at my jeep! Just Empty Every Pocket
