I was going to get a militay trailer but figured i could build one lighter and the way i wanted for close to what they were going for. So me and my boys picked up an axle and some steel and started building. Here are some pics so far.

Wow!  You're really making some progress in a short amount of time. That's looking good!  You going to have it ready by the end of October?

Oh ya. Hoping to have most of the fab work done today at least on the main part. I'm wanting to make places for a gas can & water jug. Still need to research what I'm going to need for that.

Looks great !!! Love the LJ too. One thing I would suggest is a Pintle hitch. Only way to go offroad.

Thanks for the input. I went with a kilby max off-road hitch. Never used one but people on the net was talking good about them. It rated at 6k lbs. And im no pulling close to that. I didn't want the noise from the pintle hitch.

I have read good things about them as well.  Flexy but quieter than a pintle.  Does it have a lock out for towning on the highway?  then pull a pin and it allows for more movement?

It doesn't have any lock out pin. I was more worried about backing up than going forward.  I backed it back into the shop after washing it (not real far and mostly straight) but it backed really well. The only down side to this hitch I could see is if your trailer was heavy enough you couldn't move it around by hand and it would be harder to hitch up to the truck/jeep.

I'm about done with the trailer build. Going to add a place for gas and water cans and shovel and axe sometime.
